A third High Wind Alert is in effect

The Met Service has issued yet another High Wind Alert – alert # 3, Yellow Level.

In a statement on Friday Met said, “In the vicinity of showers as well as in the event of thunderstorms, there remains a high chance (70%) of gusts in excess of 55km/hr.

These gusty winds may be brief but are capable of displacing unsecured roofs, loose outdoor objects, toppling trees and weak structures. Marine craft can be adversely impacted by these strong winds and visibility may be extremely low during dusk and dawn. Wind waves occasionally near 2.5m are also expected with agitated seas.”

The Met Service is advising to secure loose outdoor objects and livestock. Marine interests should also exercise caution during this period. Monitor sea conditions.
