Newly sworn in temporary Opposition Senator, Jowelle de Souza is Trinidad and Tobago’s first Transgender woman in Parliament – this move has created history for the twin island republic.
However since holding the post as Opposition Senator, Ms. de Souza has tagged a number a world leaders and prominent names through the globe; this move has come with heavy criticism from locals.

While de Souza’s intentions may be with good faith, some have ridiculed her actions, calling it a desperate attempt for ‘congratulations and attention’.
