$50k bail for PTRC employee held on 2 counts of larceny

An employee of the Princes Town Regional Corporation (PTRC) was granted bail with surety in the sum of $50,000, by a Justice of the Peace (JP) yesterday, charged with two counts of larceny.

Joseph Rajkumar, 43, of Esperanza, California, a checker, employed with the PTRC, was charged with one count of Larceny by a Clerk or Servant in the sum of $16,374 and one count of Larceny by a Clerk or Servant in the sum of $4,563, when he was granted bail by JP Babootee.
He is to appear before a Princes Town Magistrate on April 19th, 2023.

It is alleged that an employee of the PTRC stole quantities of concrete blocks, BRC wire and steel altogether valued at $20,937 from the Regional Corporation.

A report was made to the police and the Anti-Corruption Investigations Bureau (ACIB) conducted extensive enquiries into the matter between the period May 2022 and February 2023.

The investigations were supervised by Snr. Supt. Andy Teewarie and Supt. Wayne Abbott, led by ASP (Ag.) Bryon Daniel and included W/Insp. Mc Millan-Mohammed, Insp. Dick, Sgt. Codrington, Cpls. Emrith and Ramkumar, PCs Edwards, Pitt and WPC Loney-Phillip.

As a result, a male suspect was arrested in connection with the matter following the execution of a search warrant at his home on March 1st, 2023.

Rajkumar was charged by Cpl (Ag.) Ramkumar of the ACIB on March 1st, 2023.
