5 suspects held as police foil warehouse robbery in POS

Police arrested five suspects, seized a firearm and recovered stolen items after they mounted a quick response to an early morning incident in Port of Spain today.

According to police reports, around 3am today, Corporals Flemming and Joseph along with members of the Inter Agency Task Force responded to an alarm at a warehouse located on Frederick Street.

When they arrived at the scene, the officers strategically cordoned off all entrance and exits of the building. The officers then gained access to the building and then conducted a systematic search of a three-story concrete structure covered with galvanized and concrete roofing. The officers observed four suspects on the rooftop, and one of the men was armed with a firearm. The officers also found a black bag containing several sneakers, slippers, clothing and also housebreaking implements on the rooftop.

The officers continued to search the building and observed another suspect on the rooftop of the building. All five suspects ages 19, 22, 30, 32 and 39 were captured and arrested. The firearm, a black nine-millimetre and magazine containing ten rounds nine-millimetre ammunition was also secured.
