2024 EBC report to be laid in parliament tomorrow

Leader of Government House Business Camille Robinson-Regis has confirmed that the Election and Boundaries Commission’s 2024 Report on the review of constituency boundaries will be laid in the House of Representatives tomorrow.

However, Robinson-Regis said the report is only being laid and can’t be debated then because there must be notice.

The report is listed on the order paper to be presented by Deputy House Speaker Esmond Forde.

She denied statements attributed to Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar at UNC’s Monday meeting in Chaguanas in which she criticised the Government for not presenting the EBC report as well as statements by Robinson-Regis and Faris Al-Rawi on the matter.

Robinson-Regis denied saying the EBC report “was received by the acting Prime Minister” and rejected Persad-Bissessar’s claim that the Opposition’s recent threats of legal action and query to the EBC on the report had forced the Government to lay it in Parliament.
