$200M rehabilitation company moved from Rural Ministry to Works

A $200 million rehabilitation company that was once in the hands of the Ministry of Rural Development is now under the helm of the Works Ministry.

A GML report states that the Secondary Road Rehabilitation and Improvement Company Limited is now under the purview of the Ministry of Works following a notice in the Trinidad and Tobago Gazette, by President Paula-Mae Weekes, “acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister”.
She made the change with effect from March 3, 2023.

The movement of the Secondary Road Rehabilitation and Improvement Company Limited is said to be a matter of a consolidation of resources, since the Ministry of Works and Transport has much of the infrastructure already in place to execute the Government’s ambitious road paving plan.

According to the report, another state enterprise, Lake Asphalt of Trinidad and Tobago (1978) Limited, has also been moved from the Ministry of Energy to the Ministry of Works and Transport.
