2 juveniles held, firearm seized in Maloney Gardens

Two male minors are currently detained and a firearm and a quantity of ammunition were seized following a foot chase yesterday morning in Maloney Gardens.

The juveniles were held by officers of the Maloney Police Station (MPS) who, while, on patrol, spotted two male suspects acting suspiciously in the district.

The teens are now facing possession of firearm and ammunition charges.

According to police reports, at 3 am on November 18th, MPS officers were on mobile patrol in the vicinity of Building 7 when two male suspects looked at the officers and began running away towards another building.

The officers alighted and pursued both juveniles, during which, one of them allegedly handed over an object to the other.

Police subsequently saw one of the juveniles climbed the scaffolding of Building 9 while the other ran through a bushy area, then ran back into Building 9, still while being in pursuit by the officers.

The officers called for assistance and officers from Northern Division Task Force Area South responded.

Both suspects were then observed in the vicinity of an electrical meter box in Building 9, where they again attempted to evade the officers. They however were detained a short distance away by the officers.

A check was conducted of the electrical box where a Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition were recovered.
