10 charged with offences under the Anti-Gang Act

Southern Division officers have ensured that ten men, charged with being members of a gang, were denied bail and remanded into custody, when they appeared in court today, charged with offences under the Anti-Gang Act, arising out of two separate matters.

The accused, appeared in the San Fernando Charge Case Court today, Wednesday 2nd August, 2023, to answer to the charges.

In the first matter, nine accused, BRANDON DANZELL, KEON WEEKES, KEON PARKER, AKINDEA SAMUEL, SEANDELL NEPTUNE, SHAMIKI THOMAS, JAHIEM SAMMERSON, KEMAAL BARTHOLOMEW and JOSIAH PIERRE, were charged with being members of a gang, three counts of Robbery with Aggravation and House Breaking and Larceny.

Weekes faced additional charges of driving without a driver’s license and certificate of insurance, while Sammerson was charged with being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
Sammerson was granted bail in the sum of $500,000 to cover his charges, while the other eight accused were remanded into custody and advised to apply to a judge in chambers of Master of the High Court for bail.

The matter was adjourned to August 8th, 2023.

The men were arrested following a report of Robbery with Aggravation, House Breaking and Larceny, which occurred in the Marabella district on July 25th, 2023.

Officers of the Marabella Criminal Investigations Department (CID), with assistance of the Southern and Central Divisions Highway Patrol, the Central Division Task Force and Southern Division CID Operations, intercepted two stolen vehicles shortly after, with a total of nine suspects along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway.

In the second matter, two men, DANIEL CRITCHLOW, 24 and DILLON CRITCHLOW, 26, both of San Fernando, were charged with Being Members of a Gang, Robbery with Violence, Larceny Motor Vehicle and Possession of Ammunition, when they appeared in court Wednesday.

They were not called upon to plead, were denied bail and remanded into custody.
The matter was adjourned to August 16th, 2023.

The accused were arrested following a report of Robbery with Violence which occurred in the San Fernando district on July 25th, 2023.

The silver Nissan Note in which they were travelling was intercepted along Cipero Road, shortly after by officers of the San Fernando CID.

A search of the vehicle resulted in four rounds of ammunition being discovered and seized.
These arrests represent ongoing successes attributed to the strategies implemented by Commissioner of Police Erla Christopher and the Executive of the TTPS, aimed at reducing instances of home invasions, robberies and larcenies and increasing safety and security for all citizens.
