West Indies wins T20 series

The West Indies have taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the ongoing CG Insurance T20 series versus Australia at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia.

Chris Gayle led West Indies to the victory in third T20I against Australia.

Australia won the toss and decided to bat first and got off to a flyer. After 4.5 overs they were 41/1. The Windies however pulled things back in the middle overs restricting the Aussies to 141 for 6. Hayden Walsh Jr. was the pick of the West Indies bowlers taking 2 for 18. Obed McCoy, Dwayne Bravo and Fabian Allen took one wicket each.

Sent out to bowl first, West Indies held Australia to a total of 141/6 from their 20 overs and chased that target down with six wickets and 31 balls to spare.

Gayle blasted seven sixes and four fours as he raced to 67 off 38 to power the hosts to victory, becoming the first batter to score 14,000 T20 runs as he notched his 14th T20I half-century for West Indies.

During West Indies’ turn at the wicket, it was the Universe Boss’ show. The big Jamaican was in fine form hitting 67 off 38 balls with seven huge sixes. During his innings, Gayle become the first T20 player to score 14,000 runs with twenty-two hundreds. The batting legend has been criticized recently for a lack of form and reminded all tonight exactly what he is capable of.

Gayle was supported by stand-in skipper Nicholas Pooran who scored 32 off 27 balls.

West Indies won the match by 6 wickets with thirty-one balls remaining. For his masterclass, Chris Gayle was named man of the match.
