T&TEC Puts Forward New Rates For Residential, Commercial And Industrial Customers

New rates are being put forward for residential, commercial and industrial customers of the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission.

There is also a suggestion for customers to get their bills on monthly basis instead of the current two month period.

The move is aimed at helping customers better manage their cash flow planning.

Chairman of RIC, Dawn Callender, made the disclosure during a news briefing Thursday, on the Draft Determination for the Electricity Transmission and Distribution Sector.

Ms maintained a balance had to be found when it comes to increasing T&TEC’s  rates and ensuring the Commission is able to recover costs from services provided.

Ms Callender said a review was done on the commission’s capital projects, the cost of gas and its impact on the utility, taking into account the vulnerable in society.
