Tropical Wave weakens but Met Office continues to monitor conditions

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) continues to monitor a Tropical Wave currently
affecting parts of the Lesser Antilles.

The wave has weakened significantly over the past 24 hours and further development is no longer expected.

Although the main area of activity associated with the Tropical Wave is still east of the Lesser Antilles, locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds over some of the islands are still possible.

The TTMS will still continue to closely monitor this tropical wave as well as any other pertinent weather system, for development and issue relevant advisories or alerts in a timely manner.

Meanwhile, generally hot and sunny conditions will be interrupted by showery spells in a few areas.

Heavy showers or thunderstorms are expected in few areas this afternoon mainly over western Trinidad.

Tonight will be mostly clear.

Flash flooding and gusty winds are expected in areas of heavy showers.
