A shooting in Moruga on Monday night has left a mother and daughter dead and the child’s father nursing gunshot wounds.
The victims have been identified as 30-year old Sashell Elliot and her one and a half-year old daughter, Nova Bereton.
The child’s father Akeil Bereton, was shot and critically wounded.
Police report that a gunman opened fire around 7:30pm, while the three were at the family’s parlour at Fort George Road in Indian Walk.
A blue car pulled up and a man with a rifle got out and began shooting at the couple and their daughter, hitting them.
The gunman then returned to the vehicle and sped off.
All three were rushed to the Princes Town District Health Facility, however the mother and daughter succumbed to their injuries.
Southern Division police later intercepted the getaway car and found a weapon and arrested a suspect.
