An 18-year-old D’abadie woman is hospitalised in a critical condition after she was stabbed by the father of her child during an altercation.
The young woman was at her Building 11, Maloney Gardens home with the couple’s two-year-old daughter on January 17, when the 24-year-old suspect arrived and soon after, an argument began.
Things became heated and the man from Carapo, Arima drew a black flick knife and stabbed her in the neck and chest.
The suspect then ran out of the apartment.
However, an alarm was raised by the woman’s relatives and neighbors began chasing the suspect along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway.
Officers on patrol who intervened later detained the suspect.
The woman was taken to the Arima Hospital by her father, and subsequently transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope where she was treated and warded in a critical condition.
