T’bgo Chamber: Efforts being made to deal with food shortage in Tobago

Efforts were being made to ensure that food supplies did not run out on the sister isle.

This is the information from Vice Chair of the Tobago Chamber Demi John Cruikshank who spoke on the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital this morning.

Goods were stuck on the Port of Port of Spain after a fire on the Cabo Star put it out of commission a few weeks ago.

This meant that goods that were supposed to be transported to the sister isle could not be until alternative arrangements were made by the Port.

Ultimately the MV Emprendedora was secured to alleviate the situation.

Tobago businesses claimed that as a result the island was running low on food supplies and expressed concern with the situation.

Cruikshank told the Morning Show this morning that all was being done to address the situation on their side.

He said that it is high time that the cargo situation in Tobago is dealt with and if that means handing over operations of the sea bridge to the THA then so be it.
