Suzette Martin approved as third Deputy Commissioner of Police

The House of Representatives has approved Suzette Martin’s nomination for the post of Deputy Commissioner of Police, filling the last remaining vacancy.

Martin currently heads the Professional Standards Bureau and is on bail regarding a motor vehicle incident in the Barataria district where a schoolboy was hit by an unmarked police vehicle Martin drove.

Minister of National Security and Member of Parliament for Laventille West, Hon. Fitzgerald Hinds, MP, moved the motion to approve Martin’s nomination.

On February 16, the nominations of Junior Benjamin and Natasha George as deputy commissioners of police were approved by the Parliament.

The Government however rejected ACP (ag) Wendell Lucas, the head of the White Collar Crime Division for the post of DCP.
