Still no water for Kernahan Trace residents despite protest action

It’s been almost a week since they staged fiery protests to demand a supply of water to their community and yet, the residents of Kernahan Trace, Cunupia are still without water.

Last Friday the residents blocked part of Chin Chin Road and complained that they have not had a steady supply of water for the past seven years.

Following the action, the residents were told that the water supply would be restored by Tuesday.

The residents say all their begging for is at least three days a week to get some pipe water.

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) said the water shortage was caused by the harsh dry season and reduced water production at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant and promised that supply would be restored to the community.
