A 34-year-old Lance Corporal was granted bail with a surety in the sum of $75,000, when he appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate, charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
According to police reports on Saturday 9th April, 2022, around 7.00 pm, the victim was at home in her bedroom with the accused when they had an argument. The accused became enraged and began cuffing the victim in her stomach, and then began choking her whilst threatening to kill her.
A report was made to the Chaguanas Police Station and the Special Victims Unit was contacted and an investigation was launched into the matter. He was arrested and charged on Thursday 13th April, 2023. He is expected to reappear in court on the May 25th,2023.
Investigations were spearheaded by W/Supt. (Ag.) Claire Guy-Alleyne and ASP Seecharan, Insp. Jagroop of the Special Victims Department.
