Sean Luke’s murderers found guilty

The two men accused of murdering 6-year old Sean Luke back in 2006 have been found guilty.

The accused, 27 year old Akeel Mitchell and 31 year old Richard Chatoo will be sentenced on August 23rd.

The verdict comes after three months of submissions of evidence from both State attorneys and attorneys representing the accused.

The matter was heard virtually before Justice Lisa Ramsumir-Hinds.

She was satisfied that the State was able to provide sufficient, compelling and cogent evidence for the two to be convicted of the capital offence.

Little Sean Luke died from massive internal bleeding and organ damage after he was sodomised with a cane stalk in a field in Orange Valley Trace, Couva.

Because the two were minors when the crime was committed, they will not face the death sentence.
