Twenty-two year old Santa Cruz resident Antonio Mathews is dead, following an alleged shoot-out with police on Friday night.

Around 10 pm, officers were on an exercise and went to Moraldo Trace, Sam Boucaud, Santa Cruz to interview Mathews, a suspect wanted in connection with shootings and other offences, when they said they were greeted with fire as they approached the man’s home.

Police said they returned fire hitting Mathews.
