A San Juan man, said to be a ‘repeat firearms offender’ was killed by police during a shoot-out at his home on Tuesday afternoon.
Around 5:25pm, officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force went to the home of Akeel Ayers, at River Road, Grand Curacaye.
The police reported that when they called out to Ayers, he opened fire on them.
They returned fire, hitting him several times.
He was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries on arrival.
