Regiment reviewing procedures as ammo with TTR markings turn up at crime scenes

The Trinidad and Tobago Regiment said it is aware of reports by the TT Police Service (TTPS), that indicate the use of ammunition found at crime scenes, bearing markings similar to the ammunition authorized for Regiment use only.

The Regiment, in a release issued today, said it is working tirelessly with the TTPS and intends to continue to provide full cooperation into the verification and investigation of this serious matter.

The Regiment reassured the public that systems are in place to safeguard their ammunition from falling into the hands of criminal elements and this includes accounting procedures to prevent occurrences of unauthorized use.

The Regiment said that based on the outcome of such review, the necessary disciplinary activities will be instituted where necessary.

The Regiment added that it remains committed to Guard and Defend Trinidad and Tobago in order to ensure the safety and security of our citizenry and this great nation.
