Pregnant woman and 16-year-old boy killed in Arima

A shooting in Arima on Thursday night has claimed the life of a pregnant woman and a 16-year-old boy.

The two were among four people shot during the gun attack.

Police said officers of the Arima Police Station received a report of a shooting at Zone Eight, Mt Zion Road, Arima, around 9:30 pm and went to the scene.

On arrival, police went to a wooden house where they found 21-year-old Amy Walcott lying on a bed with a gunshot wound to her head. Police also saw Roshan Ali, 16, on the floor of the bedroom bleeding from gunshot wounds.

A district medical officer was called in and declared Walcott dead at the scene.

Police officers took Ali to the Arima Hospital where he was declared dead at around 4:20 am on Friday.

Police were later told that a 13-year-old boy and an 18-year-old were also wounded in the attack. However, they had been taken to hospital before police got to the area.

Enquiries are currently underway.
