Police trying to ID one of 2 men shot and killed in separate incidents

A 21-year-old man is one of two men killed in separate shootings in Tunapuna and Arima on Sunday.

In the first incident, which occurred shortly before midday, Elijah Charles, 21, was at his home on Second Trace, Maingot Road, Tunapuna, when two masked gunmen entered and shot him several times before running away.

Charles reportedly attempted to jump through a window to escape his attackers but collapsed a short distance away.

He was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said Charles, who had pending cases for firearm possession, was shot 17 times.

Hours later, at around 4.30 pm, was walking along Punnette Road, Pinto Road, Arima, when he was ambushed and shot several times.

The man, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene.

Investigations are underway into both murders.
