The recent shooting of a migrant baby during an incident with the Coast Guard will not deter migrants from making the dangerous sea crossing to enter Trinidad and Tobago illegally.
So says Swetlana Liansky, a migrant who uses her experiences to help other migrants who face similar challenges.
Ms Lianksky, who now pioneers a programme with the Living Water Community geared towards helping and rehabilitating migrants in T&T, spoke with News Power Now about the incident.
Asked if she believes it would deter migrants, she offered an honest answer.
She called for the Government to ensure that a more understanding approach is taking when dealing with illegal migrants.
