PM denies Opposition claims that he is missing in action

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is defending himself against claims by the Opposition that he has been missing in action.

The Opposition UNC and the Movement for Social Justice said Dr Rowley has been silent amid the issues facing the country including the rising crime and a spiralling murder rate.

He said at no time did he abandon his duties, suggesting that he was on the sister isle in his capacity as Prime Minister.

Dr Rowley made the comment while addressing supporters at the PNM’s town hall meeting in Chaguanas last night.

Further addressing these claims, Dr Rowley noted that upon his return to Trinidad, his one of his first orders of business was to convene a National Security Council meeting to address the murder rate.

He denied claims that files are stacking up as a result of his absence from his Whitehall Office.
