PM attends memorial service held for Desmond Tutu

President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Her Excellency, Paula-Mae Weekes, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Mrs Sharon Clarke-Rowley attended a memorial service for the late South African Anglican Archbishop Emeritus, Desmond Tutu at The Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, Port of Spain on Monday 10th January, 2022.

The remarkable theologian, anti-apartheid campaigner and Nobel Peace Prize laureate died on Sunday 26th December, 2021 at the age of 90.

The memorial service was officiated by the Archdeacon North, The Venerable Kenley Baldeo and the homily was delivered by the Archdeacon South, The Vicar General, The Venerable Edwin Primus.

Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley, Her Excellency, Paula Mae Weekes, Archbishop of the West Indies, The Most Reverend Dr. Howard Gregory, The Bishop of Trinidad and Tobago, The Right Reverend Claude Berkley, and the President of the Inter-religious Organization, Pundit Mukram Sirjoo were among those who paid tribute to the late Anglican Archbishop.

Also in attendance were the Chief Justice Ivor Archie, and Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator the Dr. Amery Browne at today’s memorial service.
