Peterson condemns allegations by Farley; denies whistleblower claims

Senior Counsel, Gilbert Peterson has strongly denied and condemned the allegations levied by THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine.

On Wednesday, during a special THA sitting, Augustine alleged a conspiracy to discredit the THA and himself, which was claimed by one Akil Abdullah whom Augustine had taped secretly.

The allegations focused on Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, Police Commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher, T&T Police Service Inspector Weaver-Ali, Tobago PNM leader Ancil Dennis and attorney Peterson.

But, in statement yesterday, Peterson stated, “I have heard the statement made by the Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, Mr Farley Augustine at a special sitting of the Assembly. I categorically and unequivocally deny in the strongest possible terms the allegations which the Chief Secretary and his purported whistleblower have made against me.”

He added, “If the Chief Secretary has any confidence or honest belief in the truth of any of the allegations made by his so-called whistleblower, it is his duty to rid himself of the cloak of privilege afforded to him inside of the Assembly, and to repeat these allegations or any part thereof outside of the public space.”
