PCA reports an increase in complaints at the institution

The Police Complaints Authority has seen an increase in complaints before the institution.

For the period 2014 to 2015 the PCA received 352 complaints from members of the public.

This figure moved to 569 for 2021 to 2022.

This update was disclosed by PCA Director, David West , who appeared before an inquiry into the audited financial  statements of the PCA for the financial years 2015 to 2021.

PCA was allocated 138 million dollars by the government to cover the period 2015 to 2021.

Mr West was asked if the funding was adequate for the entity to properly carry out its work to which Mr west said yes it was adequate to meet the everyday expenses of the Authority.

However, he admitted with the PCA Director admitted with an increase in complaints additional resources will be required to ensure efficiency.
