Paray: SSA change is a huge red flag!

Member of Parliament for Mayaro Rushton Paray believes that the national community should see the recent changes in the SSA as a huge red flag, suggesting that issues of crime in T&T had now reached critical levels requiring significant changes in the security apparatus.

He says that Trinidad and Tobago has a serious issue with transnational crime and real concerns as it relates to criminal activity in this country so he’s not surprised with the changes to the SSA.

He said according to his information the US Government asked the T&T Government for information on any of T&T’s local policing agencies that has a relationship with elite US units.

He also addressed rumours that he intends to challenge Kamla Persad Bissessar for the leadership position of the United National Congress.

He said that this information is not accurate.

He acknowledged that the voice of the membership has called for the democratic process to take its course and be given the right to ensure the best team goes forward into the future.

He said that there are those who are peddling the narrative that there is a rift between himself and the Opposition Leader, however this is untrue.

Separately he said the United National Congress will work with anyone until the relationship becomes unworkable.

He said that even if it does the party will do introspection to see where they are at fault.

He was referring to the public fallout between Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar and NTA Head Gary Griffith.
