In the House of Representatives on Friday, Member of Parliament for Cumuto/ Manzanilla, Dr Rai Ragbir, voted in support of the government in passing the Whistle-blower Act 2024.
22 voted in support of the legislation while 15 were against.
There was no abstention.
The act seeks to combat corruption and other wrongdoings by encouraging and facilitating disclosures of improper conduct in the public and private sector.
It is also aimed at protecting persons making those disclosures from detrimental action, to regulate the receiving, investigating or otherwise dealing with disclosures of improper conduct and to provide for other matters connected therewith.
