Opposition MP Lobbies For Legal Firearms For Law-Abiding Citizens, Business Owners

Opposition Member of Parliament, Saddam Hosein, is calling for legal firearms for law –abiding citizens and business owners.

MP Hosein is of the view the Commissioner of Police must act now to expedite the granting of Firearm User’s Licences to law-abiding citizens and business owners who qualify, to protect themselves from criminals.

He claimed based on figures presented by the Minister of National Security in July 2022, there are approximately 12,000 illegal firearms in Trinidad and Tobago from an analysis done by the SSA.

MP Hosein claimed the government’s gun retrieval exercise has had little or no impact in reducing the number of illegal firearms.
