Glass bottles have once again been banned for the two days of Carnival festivities.
Cabinet on Thursday took the decision to ban glass bottles on Carnival Monday and Tuesday this year.
Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds said it will serve the same purpose as when it was introduced in 2020, that is to provide a layer of security during the festivities.
Under the regulation, anyone other than an authorised person will be prohibited from serving or consuming a beverage from a glass bottle, in or within the vicinity of a Carnival event in a public place.
A person who contravenes the regulation will be found to have committed an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of $1,000 and to imprisonment for six months.
The ban will begin at 4 am on Carnival Monday and will run until midnight on Carnival Tuesday.
