Bad roads are preventing children from going to school.
That’s according to Tabaquite MP Anita Haynes Alleyne.
She claims since persons are unable to commute safely, absenteeism rates in schools have increased.
She also alleges that several areas across Tabaquite are underserved by the PTSC, while requests for school transportation have also gone unfulfilled.
In a statement, she says the quality of life in several areas have been impacted: “I have repeatedly highlighted the many ways in which the dilapidated road infrastructure negatively impacts residents’ quality of life. In addition to the mental and emotional toll of traversing roadways littered with safety hazards, access to basic goods and services is severely restricted. These include garbage collection, mail delivery and emergency health responses.”
The MP says bad roads have also financially impacted residents and businesses, since vehicles are being damaged and patrons are decreasing.
Mrs Haynes Alleyne is again urging the government to address critical infrastructure issues in her constituency.
