MoE confident most schools ready for start of new term; says no masks required for ECCE students

Education Minister, Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly has assured that, “Most of the over 700 schools from ECCE (early childhood care and education) primary and secondary level are in a state of readiness at this time.”

This she assured as as the new school term reopens on Tuesday, April 19th.

Gadsby-Dolly, said she is confident that everything is in place for the reopening, which will see all students return to in person-classes for the first time in two years.

In a Newsday interview, Gadsby-Dolly said that “There are a few schools where emergency repairs were undertaken and are ongoing. Most should be complete by Tuesday.”

THA Education Secretary Zorisha Hackett, recently stated that the assembly will relax the school uniform requirement for students returning to classes in Tobago in the new term and Gadsby-Dolly said, “This has been the official policy of the Ministry of Education since 2021, and it continues into this term.”

Meanwhile, in an advisory on Sunday, the Ministry of Education has noted that face masks will not be required for students attending ECCE’s.

The message stated simply:
Back to School with ECCE (Early Childhood Care and Education)
Mask wearing will NOT be MANDATORY for ECCE students
ECCE operations will facilitate further safety protocols
