Met Office Discontinues Latest Hazardous Seas Alert

The Meteorological Service discontinues the hazardous seas alert.

The alert was in effect for near shore areas of Tobago, Northern and Eastern coastal areas of Trinidad, Western coastal and sheltered areas of Trinidad.

It says conditions which have been affecting northern coasts of Trinidad and Tobago, associated with the long period swell event have improved.

This improvement is temporary and is expected to last for approximately 72 hours from the discontinuation time of this alert.

Another high energy swell event is expected to impact the nearshore, north-facing coastlines of exposed and sheltered areas of the islands in approximately 72 hours on Friday.

Members of the public are asked to continue to monitor sea conditions.
