Man held for crime while reporting accident

A man was held in connection with a robbery in El Dorado last night, as he was at a police station reporting an accident.

A woman was sitting in her vehicle along Rickson Street around 8:25pm, when two men, one armed with a gun, announced a robbery.

The victim got out, threw the keys into some bushes and ran away.

After the men stole her cellphone from the car and escaped in a waiting Tiida, the victim said she retrieved her keys and proceeded to follow the suspects.

The suspects allegedly got out of the Tiida at Macoya Road, and in a bid to prevent the driver from leaving, there was a collision.

The TTPS says both the victim and the driver went to the Tunapuna Police Station to file reports, where the driver was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident.

He was later found to be a suspect wanted in connection with a report of Motor Vehicle larceny in Tunapuna in March 2023.
