Man caught during a housebreaking in Sangre Grande

Keen Powers of Observation by Eastern Police led to the Arrest and Charge of House Breaker

One man is expected to appear at the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court on Monday 12th December, 2022 after he was allegedly caught during a housebreaking incident earlier today.

RON BELCON was arrested and later charged with the offense of House Breaking and Larceny by PC Samuel.

According to police reports, Sgt Leon, Cpl Maharaj, PCs Singh and Samuel were on patrol at 6:00 am, when they received information and proceeded to Foster Road, Sangre Grande. Upon arrival, they proceeded to house on the northern side of the roadway, where they observed a man exiting a door to the western side of the premises.

The officers, who observed that the man was carrying an object in his hand, called out to the man. He allegedly looked in the direction of the officers dropped the item and ran off. The officers chased after the man, who was held a short distance away and was arrested.

The officers then took the suspect back the house, where they observed that a door was tampered with and the inside of the house was ransacked. Further enquiries revealed that the house keeper secured the house annd went away, she returned and discovered several household items missing from the house.

The suspect was conveyed to the Sangre Grande Police Station together with the items retrieved.

Inquiries are ongoing.
