Machel Montano can now add another trophy to his collection.
This as he copped the title of 2024 National Calypso Monarch at the Dimanche Gras, Queen’s Park Savannah on Sunday night along with a trophy, car and $500,000.
The soca king performed a vibrant rendition of his single ‘Soca is Calypso’, featuring a large ensemble of young dancers and guest appearances by Cro Cro and Trinidad Rio.
Second place went to former monarch, Karene Asche, while Roderick ‘Chuck’ Gordon had to settle for third place.
