Low Pressure Weather System East South-East Of Windward Islands Being Monitored

At 2:00 pm today, the area of active weather associated with the low was centred near 2250 km, east-southeast of the southern Windward Islands.

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service continues to monitor an area of low pressure, near the central Tropical Atlantic.

Showers and thunderstorms associated with the low continue to become more organized, and environmental conditions are expected to remain conducive.

The system is expected to continue moving west and develop into a Tropical Depression later today.

At 2:00 pm this afternoon, the National Hurricane Center has given the system a near 100% chance of developing into a Tropical Depression over the next 24 hours and a near 100% chance of development through 7 days.

At this time, the system poses no direct threat to Trinidad and Tobago.

The initial outlook for Trinidad and Tobago is for cloudy skies with showers and a medium to high chance of thunderstorm activity by Monday 01st July 2024.

Sea conditions are expected to become further agitated, particularly along western and northern coastlines.

THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO ALERTS, WATCHES OR WARNINGS IN EFFECT FOR TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO.

The TTMS continues to monitor this area of low pressure and will issue an update at 8:00 pm tonight or earlier if the situation warrants.
