Hinds: Additional recruits will help in crime fight!

National security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds says he’s quite pleased with how his Government has handled the country’s finances as was reflected in the Budget.

He told the Power Breakfast Show that he’s also happy with the allocation for National Security which got the third highest allocation in the budget.

Finance Minister, Colm Imbert, told the parliament on Monday that the government intends to increase the number of officers recruited into the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

Hinds said the crime has emerged as one of T&T’s major issues and the Government relied on the police to let them know what they need to fight crime, and the articulated that they needed more recruits.

He said that he’s very concerned with border security.

Minister Hinds shared that riverine vessels have been received to help treat with persons and contraband breaching the borders.
