Health Ministry Activates Comprehensive Preparedness Plan Amid Adverse Weather Conditions

A comprehensive preparedness plan is activated by the Ministry of Health to ensure minimal disruption of services across the health sector in anticipation of the impending adverse weather conditions associated with the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

On June 3rd the Ministry’s Health Emergency Operations Centre has been activated.

This was done to provide situational awareness and event-based and syndromic surveillance of mass gatherings related to the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup.

This activation has now been further extended to include preparedness for and response to adverse weather conditions associated with the ensuing weather system.

The Ministry continues to liaise with all Regional Health Authorities to safeguard its facilities and ensure continuity of service and service delivery.

It says via its website and social media platforms will continue to share information on measures the public can take to minimise the threat of water and vector borne diseases associated with flooding.

The Ministry of Health assures the population all measures are being undertaken to collaborate with all relevant ministries and agencies to ensure minimal service disruptions during this period.

It is encouraging the population to heed all relevant alerts and advisories issued and utilize established sources of information or contact the various emergency response agencies should you require assistance during this time.
