Government Hoping To Strike A Balance On How It Manages The Fuel Subsidy

Government is trying to strike a balance on how it manages the subsidy on fuel.

It indicates the higher the price of oil, the higher the fuel subsidy.

Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Brian Manning, said the government has spent about two billion dollars in fuel subsidies.

Speaking during the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital, Wednesday, Mr Manning also cited the seriousness of the situation and the highlighted some of disadvantages which can developed relating to the fuel subsidy.

Mr Manning said the government plans to put a fixed the subsidy at about one billion dollars on fuel and consumers will have to pay the excess moving forward.
