Girl, 11, mauled to death by family dog

An 11-year-old girl was mauled to death by a family dog.

According to reports, Rachel Bhagwandeen, who was a Standard Five pupil, died at her Solomon Street, San Fernando, home on Thursday just after 11am.

Police reports indicate that the animal, an American Bully, pit bull, got loose and ran into the house, chasing Rachel around.

The dog followed her into the bedroom where she was attacked.

The child’s mother, Seema Bhagwandeen, and other relatives were inconsolable.
