Former AG Al Rawi Seeks To Clear The Air On Vincent Nelson Agreement

Former Attorney General, Faris Al Rawi, says legal advice from Douglas Mendes and Gilbert Peterson was sought after state witness Vincent Nelson shared information of a conspiracy to defraud the public.

Mr Al Rawi, at a virtual news briefing Wednesday, said he felt this was the way to go and he did not advise himself on such an important issue.

On Monday the Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard discontinued criminal charges against former Attorney General, Anand Ramlogan, and former Opposition Senator Gerald Ramdeen.

Mr Al Rawi said he is prepared to allow due process to take its course and will not be baited by the Opposition Leader to fall into a trap of undue publicity.

Responding to calls from the Opposition Leader for him to resign, Mr Al Rawi said this nothing new.
