Family home destroyed by fire in Fullerton Village

Fire partially destroyed a house along Perseverance Road in Fullerton Village on Friday morning, leaving four members of a family without a roof over their heads.

The family, which included a 70-year-old woman, a 46-year-old man, and two children aged eight and seven – were all at their home when they were awakened by a loud noise around 12:40am.

On investigating, the 46-year-old man discovered a couch in the living room of the home was on fire and he raised an alarm while attempting to push the couch through the front door, but due to the heat he was unable to do so.

The family then made their way out of the home, but the man sustained minor burns to his body.

Neighbors came to their assistance to contain the blaze until a fire tender arrived and extinguished the blaze.

The entire upper level of the home was said to have been destroyed.

A cause for the fire has yet to be established.
