A High wind alert is now in effect.
The Meteorological Service says it took effect at 10:30am today and will go until 2pm Thursday.
In the alert, the Met Service says there is a high potential for windy conditions and gusts in the vicinity of fifty-five kilometres per hour with higher gusts expected over the alert period.
It says such wind gusts may be brief but are capable of displacing unsecured roofs and loose outdoor objects.
Marine craft can be adversely impacted by these strong winds and visibility may be extremely low during dusk and dawn.
Wind waves occasionally above 2.5m are also expected.
Members of the public are asked to secure loose outdoor objects and livestock.
Marine interests should also exercise extreme caution during this period.
The population is asked to monitor sea conditions, exercise caution, follow the instructions of lifeguards, monitor official news sources and weather updates from www.metoffice.gov.tt.
