Eugene Tiah Steps Down From Investigative Committee Into Paria Incident

Eugene Tiah has decided to step down from the Investigative Committee into the incident at Paria Fuel Trading Company.

Mr. Tiah was the Energy Chamber’s nominated representative to the Investigative Committee.

The Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago says it continues to express its full confidence in Mr. Tiah, a past Chairman of the Board of the Energy Chamber and an experienced professional.

In a media release on Tuesday, the Chamber said Mr Tiah is widely respected within the industry and known for his commitment to safety leadership and his integrity.

The Chamber said its priority and responsibility, is to support a thorough and detailed investigation into the incident.

It said it will subsequently share the findings of this investigation so that lessons learned are incorporated into industry safety policies, procedures and practices to avoid any similar incident in the future.

The Energy Chamber said it will now consult with relevant stakeholders, including the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, on how we should proceed in supporting this critical investigation.
