Down Owners and Merchants Association says a sense of determination and leadership must be practiced by each and every citizen in protecting themselves, their families and their communities.
It’s says a WhatsApp group was established which included Police officers and used to immediately advise participants, in real time, if and when suspicious characters appeared on the streets.
It says this has not only brought an improvement in the law-and-order situation but has also motivated officers and their superiors to be more sensitive about what is happening in the Downtown city centre.
