Over 550 Cases of Influenza Of Various Types Locally

So far for the year, this country has recorded 564 cases of influenza of various types as well as three deaths.

The age ranges 20 to 44 have accounted for the majority of cases, sixty-five point five percent under the age of eighteen and seven cases in pregnant persons.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr Roshan Parasram, made the disclosure during the launch of the 2023 influenza season and vaccination drive today.

The CMO said normally the season runs between October and May.

However, Dr Parasram said health officials began noticing influenza cases in August.

In 2021 and the early part of 2022 had little or no cases being detected according to Dr Parasram.
