Criminologist Darius Figueira says 3D printed guns is nothing but a fad

Criminologist Darius Figueira says it should have been expected that 3D printed guns would arrive in Trinidad and Tobago given the proliferation of weaponry in the country.

Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show this morning, he said there are fundamental questions that are not being debated in the media to educate the public.

He said there is no advantage to moving to 3D weapons referring to it as a fad that was invented by persons who are peripheral to the game.

He said there are serious questions that arise with regard to the efficiency of the weapon.

As such he stated that the attention paid to 3D printed guns is misplaced.

He suggested that the focus should be on traditionally made weapons and locally handmade guns.

He maintained Sicarios (Columbian high level drug operatives) put together their own weapons without the need of 3D printing.
